Collaborations and Public Engagement
Across my research areas, I place particular emphasis on collecting novel data, conducting fieldwork and interviews, and fostering interdisciplinary and practitioner collaborations. I have worked with sociologists on projects examining climate inequalities in the Global South and with economists at the University of Innsbruck on public opinion toward climate finance and North-South transfers addressing climate-related losses. My interdisciplinary perspective has also been strengthened through my involvement in the Cluster of Excellence The Politics of Inequality and a research stay at the Peace Research Institute Oslo.
My research is closely connected to collaborations beyond academia. I have worked with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Peru, as well as with NGOs and universities in Peru and Chile. Through fieldwork in both countries, I have engaged with policymakers and representatives of NGOs working on environmental issues. These collaborations and conversations have provided important insights into how environmental and social inequalities manifest in practice and have directly informed my academic research. I see these connections as an important foundation for future research collaborations and knowledge exchange.
I am equally committed to communicating research findings beyond academic audiences. In addition to presenting my research at academic conferences, I participate in policy-oriented events, including the Peruvian Ministry of Development's policy briefing conference during the Semana de la Inclusión Social. I also regularly engage in public outreach, for example through the Exzellent gefragt! event, which brought researchers and members of the public together in an accessible format.
I further share my research with broader audiences through podcasts and media interviews. I have discussed climate politics and my research in podcasts, including the Unisonar podcast, and have contributed expert perspectives to journalistic coverage of climate-related disasters and environmental politics. Through these activities, I aim to make research on climate change, inequality, and political responses accessible to audiences beyond academia and to foster dialogue between researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and the wider public.
